Part I - Overview of Cancer Industry
          e. Integrative Cancer Care vs. Conventional Cancer Treatment

In the U.S., the traditional standard of cancer care has been the options of surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation.  In recent years, this has been expanded to include genetic and biological therapies, including targeted drugs based on identifiable genetic mutations and vaccines that empower the immune system.

Similar to what is widely used in Europe, some medical centers in the U.S. are now focusing on what is referred to as “Integrative Cancer Care”.  This approach takes a more holistic approach and thus the treatment options include not only a focus on the cancer but also on the whole person in what is often referred to as mind/body/spirit therapy.  This approach also uses complementary treatment options that have anecdotal evidence of efficacy in treating cancer.  Several of these centers are shown at the links below:
